Josef Weinberger founded his publishing business in Vienna in 1885. Through an association with Johann Strauss II, he began licensing performances of Strauss' operettas.

We have expanded into several other musical genres over the years: contemporary classical, light orchestral, educational, brass and military band, and religious.

We've been publishing, selling and leasing plays for performance since 1830. From our premises in London's Fitzrovia we can offer a world wide mail order service, backed with a knowledge and expertise that spans more than 175 years of service to theatre. And now we've extended this service so you can browse and buy online.

We have over two thousand playscripts available for amateur performance, covering all elements of performing theatre: from comedies to tragedies, sketches to full-scale musicals.

The dynamic musical theatre songwriting partnership that is George Stiles (music) and Anthony Drewe (lyrics) have been writing together since they met at Exeter University over twenty years ago.

The Really Useful Group Ltd (RUG) was founded in 1977 by Andrew Lloyd Webber and is wholly owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
