The Marco Players

The name “Marco” is a combination of “Saint Margaret’s” (Mar) and “Chorley Old Road” (co).

It was the closure of the Saint Margaret’s drama group and their need for a new venue in 1981 that led them to Chorley Old Road Methodist Church.

After a meeting between Jeanne Lonnen (Director at St. Margaret’s) and the elders of this church, it was agreed that a drama group could be formed.

Recruiting people from the new church and combining them with existing members of St. Margaret’s, the new group was tentatively named “The Marco Players”.

It was decided that the new group would perform the evergreen play “When we are Married” by JB Priestly.
